I keep hearing this opinion from various online writers.

I don't get it. Yes, yes, people will say stuff they might not if they use an anonymous name, but doesn't that have both good and bad effects?
I for one think that overall, we probably gain more than we lose from anonymous commenting and blogs in general. These talking heads really don't have a point. Just a bone to pick perhaps because the internet is killing their industry.

for most sites, when commenting anonymous = lazy (couldn't be bothered to sign in) but on rare occasions I'd almost agree with you. Just use a different name that's not your own...
