Does it make a difference to you what kind of person your favorite entertainer is really?

After recent talk by Bronson Pinchot about Bette Midler being a "bitch" and Denzel Washington being hard to work with and Tom Cruise being a "homophobe" etc, I'm left to think just one thing. Who gives a shit? Does it really make any difference to a fan if their favorite actor or actress, musician, or book writer is an asshole out of the spotlight? For me, it makes no difference whatsoever. It's not like I'm going to have a beer with them or I have to work with them. Why do so many people care?

So that's my question to fellow WP's. Does it make a difference to you when some famous actor or actress, model, etc makes a fool out of themselves or you hear they are difficult to work with for other actors, etc?

And if you answer yes, why? Also, can you honestly say you really know any of the people you do like? I think it boils down to everyone has a personal life, and the media relishes in destroying anyone's life if they think they can get a buck out of it. So why not just watch those famous people work and enjoy it for what it is?
