The recent debacle regarding the new "Green Dam" software China would like to have pre-installed on all it's new pc's has once again stirred the pot on where western companies should draw the line. In recent statements by Dell, they remained committed to giving adults the control to filter content sensitive to children but didn't mention anything beyond that.
Google has taken the easiest path by simply following China's every wish. During past events, Google actively participated in the filtering of historical web sites and other materials containing information on Tiananmen Square or historical information the Chinese government would like to have filtered.
The question is, how do we remain competitive in sales, please governments with whom we completely disagree with, and still maintain face with our principals?
If you think Western companies pandering and bowing to communistic countries shouldn't be an option if we are to follow our own moral code and stay true to our beliefs about the freedom of information and the freedom of speech vote, "Agree".
If you think those manufacturers and companies that do business with communist nations like China should follow communistic guidelines in order to keep healthy business relations in a global economy vote, "Disagree".

Computer makers and search engines should stop pandering to communist nations like China.
