In recent months we've witnessed an upheaval by the people of Iran in defiance of the recent results of their presidential election. Facing personal injury and perhaps even death, many citizens of Iran have protested in the streets and made their opinion heard.
However, after increased police presence, it would seem riskier and riskier to protest as the likelihood of being arrested and perhaps injured increases.
It is at this point, when the people of Iran no longer feel able to speak their voice and practice their democratic right, that other democratic nations might feel the need to step in and support those people's rights. This however comes at great cost on many levels, and many feel some nations perhaps are already in too deep.
What do you think? Although the cost of democracy can seem to require the loss of innocent life, should we just stand by and let these people die for what they believe in, even though we share the same values? If we were to step in, what then would be the next step and can we afford that?
