Bringing freedom to people through the barrel of a gun has never worked and will never work with Afghanistan or Iraq. The increase in troops is a tragic mistake by President Obama, and this I believe will become more evident as time goes by. I can only hope and pray he sees the flaws in this most recent decision and has a change of heart about this decision.
Many people might point to the "successes" seen in the Iraq surge, but what most of the voting public doesn't know, is that THAT surge was not successful because of our troops but rather our giving money hand outs to militias whom did not engage our troops or themselves on the battlefield.
I really hope that Obama comes to his senses and realizes that continuing on with Bushes mistakes will only lead to more wasted money at the cost of not only the American people, but the world at large.
I'll just leave this opinion with a quote that I think rings true today from General Dwight D. Eisenhower a true leader and a Republican back when being a Republican actually meant something.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

Sending more troops into Afghanistan is a serious mistake by president Obama.
